pay off.” The infamous Molotov-Ribbentrop
or the Nazi-Soviet pact, signed August 23, 1939, The pact divided Eastern
Europe into German and Soviet spheres of influence. Germany invaded Poland on
Sept 1, and Stalin marched into Poland on Sep. 17. The pact freed Hitler from a
war on two fronts and made possible Hitler’s stunning expansion over Europe
during the next two years. The Nazis double crossed Stalin and invaded Russia
